All victims of ATR 42-500 plane crash in Indonesia have been found

A joint SAR team has found all 10 victims of the ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in the Mount Bulusaraung area, Indonesia’s Pangkep district, South Sulawesi province, on Friday (Jan. 23).

 

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – A joint SAR team has found all 10 victims of the ATR 42-500 aircraft that crashed in the Mount Bulusaraung area, in Indonesia’s Pangkep district, South Sulawesi province, on Saturday (Jan. 17).

The evacuation process is currently ongoing, said Andi Sultan, Head of the Operational Section of the Makassar National Search and Rescue Agency (locally known as its abbreviation Basarnas), in Indonesia’s South Sulawesi Province’s capital Makassar, on Friday.

"In this operation, all potential parties are involved and working together, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), Basarnas, local government officials, village officials, firefighters, private parties such as PT PTN and PT Tonasa, as well as communities and volunteers," Andi said.

 According to Andi, all elements worked together solidly in the search and evacuation process, resulting in the recovery of all the bodies of the victims of the ATR 42-500 aircraft.

The aircraft departed Adisutjipto Airport in Yogyakarta on Saturday (Jan. 17) at 8:08 a.m. local time, with its final destination being Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar, South Sulawesi.
