Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The year 2019 is marking the 70 years of relations between Indonesia and Australia.

During that time many achievements and developments have been carved out by the two countries, but not many Indonesians and Australians know this in depth.

Therefore, during his working visit to community-based radio Cairns FM89.1 station over this weekend, Indonesian Consul General in Sydney Heru Hartanto Subolo expected that local media in Australia would increase publications on relationship between Indonesia and the down under.

“Media, including such radios as Cairns FM89.1 play a very important role in informing people about the latest developments and important achievements in the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Australia,” Consul General Subolo said.

During the visit to the radio, Subolo Consul who was accompanied by his wife, Sinta Subolo, and consul for media Hermanus Dimara, and were received by Cairns FM89.1 manager Peter Ricketts and a management committee member, Glenn Best, as well as three Indonesian program broadcasters, Shalimma Althaus, Itin Chadijah, and Liana Hithcock.

“We positively welcome the encouragement of Consul General Subolo to publicize stories on development of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Australia. We will also be happy to receive information about developments in Indonesia and broadcasted on our radio, Ricketts said.

Cairns FM89.1 is a community-based radio station, whose funding is partly obtained from the Australian Federal Government and run by voluntary workers.

The programs broadcast on this radio station include regular news, interview programs, free community announcement services, and music.

The Indonesian language program on Cairns FM89.1 is broadcasted on Saturdays for one hour from 18:00 to 19:00 local time.

The working area of ​​the Consulate General in Sydney covers three states, namely, New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia.

Consul General Subolo’s working visit to Cairns was part of the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney’s efforts to foster cooperation with local administrations and related parties in non-metropolitan cities, as well as establish closer relations with Indonesians living in these areas.
