Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia received 14 million doses of CoronaVac vaccine in bulk from Sinovac China which arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang district, Banten province, on Wednesday (June 30).

“Today, we have received 14 million doses of vaccine from Sinovac, China, in the form of raw materials. So that the total vaccine raw materials from Sinovac that have arrived are 105 million doses of vaccine," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in a press statement welcoming the arrival of the vaccine.

The arrival of the CoronaVac vaccine is the 18th stage.

The minister of health explained that the raw materials for the vaccine will be processed by Bio Farma in West Java province’s capital of Bandung, to become a ready-to-use vaccine.

"The amount of vaccines entering Indonesia is increasing. There is another vaccine donation from COVAX-GAVI. This month it will come from AstraZeneca, in August it will come from Pfizer,” he said.

To achieve herd immunity, the government targets to vaccinate around 181.5 million Indonesians.

The minister of health reminded that even though they have been vaccinated, there is still the possibility of being infected with COVID-19, but with relatively mild symptoms.
