The death toll of quake in Indonesia’s Cianjur district has risen to 327 people after the joint SAR team found four more bodies until Tuesday at 5.19 p.m. local time.

Bogor, West Java (Indonesia Window) – The death toll of quake in Indonesia’s Cianjur district has increased to 327 people after the joint SAR team found four more bodies until Tuesday at 5.19 p.m. local time, a military officer has said.

Apart from the victims who died of the quake in Indonesia’s Cianjur, the number of people missing in the tragedy was reported at 13, the Cianjur District Military Commander, Lt. Col. Haryanto, said in Cianjur, West Java, Tuesday.

"Meanwhile, 595 people were injured in the calamity, including 68 patients with serious injuries who are still being treated at all hospitals in Cianjur," Haryanto said.

He also explained that there was a survey conducted by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) together with the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to collect data on refugees based on age, gender and vulnerable group from evacuation posts.

As of 5.22 p.m. local time, there have been 451 evacuation points that have been surveyed, and as many as 39,985 families have been surveyed, he added.

He pointed out that the number of refugees surveyed totals 108,720 people, consisting of 52,987 male refugees and 55,733 female refugees, 147 persons with disabilities, 1,341 pregnant women, and 6,994 elderly people.

As many as 83,747 houses were destroyed, consisting of 34,477 that were heavily damaged, 17,599 moderately damaged, and 35,976 lightly damaged, Haryanto said, adding that damaged infrastructures include 511 schools, 187 places of worship, 14 health facilities and 17 office buildings.

According to Haryanto, there are 16 affected sub-districts in Cianjur, covering 169 villages.

The logistics distribution to reach difficult locations continues to be carried out with motorbikes. The logistics products are in the forms of 100 boxes of mineral water, 2,600 kg of rice, 172 boxes of instant noodles, 18 boxes of medicines, 495 sheets of blankets, 30 pieces of worship equipment, 52 packaged foods, 12 boxes of underwear, 229 sheets of tarpaulin, 400 packages of basic necessities, and 50 sheets of mattresses.

"The logistical assistance also continues to arrive from donors, volunteers, as well as ministries and government agencies. Volunteer organizations involved in handling the post-quake situation in Cianjur totaled 347, consisting of 4,982 personnel working in 15 sectors," he said.

According to the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, the aftershocks have been weakening and people are advised to return to undamaged houses.

It was monitored that since the last seven days until Tuesday (Nov. 29), the number and frequency of the aftershocks have been decreasing.
