
Indonesia establishes cooperation with Chinese glass company

The downstream glass industry ecosystem will be built on Rempang Island, Batam City, Riau Islands Province, in collaboration with the world's largest glass company from China, Xinyi Glass.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents in building a downstream glass industry ecosystem and that on solar panel in Indonesia, which was held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu, China, on Friday (July 28).Indonesia on Friday signed an MoU as well as a cooperation agreement in order to build a downstream glass industry ecosystem in Rempang island, Batam city, Riau Islands province, Indonesia’s Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Agency, Bahlil Lahadalia, said in a statement after the event.Bahlil explained that the cooperation agreement with Xinyi Glass, which is the largest glass company in the world, has an investment value of 11.6 billion US dollars, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat noted in a written statement as quoted by Indonesia Window, Saturday.Xinyi’s glass investment will be built in Indonesia, which will be the largest outside China, Bahlil added.Furthermore, Bahlil said that the investment and development of the downstream glass industry could absorb a large number of workers in Indonesia, or approximately 35,000 people.President Joko Widodo has earlier met with leaders of the Xinyi company, during which the heads of state appreciated their investment commitment given to Indonesia."I appreciate Xinyi's investment commitment in supporting the downstream solar panel glass industry in Indonesia," he said.Previously, President Widodo held a bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping on Thursday (July 27), emphasizing a number of cooperation between Indonesia and the People's Republic of China.The cooperation discussed by the two heads of state included strengthening trade, investment, health, development of the Indonesia’s prospective new capital (locally known as Ibu Kota Nusantara/IKN), as well as research and technology.On Friday (July 28), the president met with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in China (INACHAM) and a number of Chinese businesspeople at the Shangri-La Hotel, Chengdu.On this occasion, the president emphasized that the Indonesian government is committed to keeping investment stable and running well.Editing by Indonesia WindowBagikan
