Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The first Indonesian supermarket was inaugurated in Lynnwood City, Greater Seattle, Washington on Saturday (Aug. 27) by Maya Damayanti, a diaspora from Bandung city, West Java province.Pioneering since 2021, Maya made preparations and coordination to ensure a safe supply of goods and foods, and obtained a permit of approval from the city administration.According to Maya, who has lived in the U.S. for nearly 20 years, opening a large store or wholesaler in another country requires not only large capital and determination and strong steps, but also knowledge, perseverance and high patience to start the process from the beginning. The owner of the Indonesian grocery store hoped that the presence of the store could deal with the longing of many people and the Indonesian diasporas around Seattle to shop for Indonesian goods and foodstuffs. On the occasion, the Indonesian Consul General in San Francisco, Prasetyo Hadi, was present to give a speech and officially opened the wholesale store of Indonesian products."The Consulate General in San Francisco is proud of Mrs. Maya's efforts and persistence to create an Indonesian product store and continues to support and help promote Indonesian shops to all partners in the North West Coast of the U.S. The opening of this Maya store constitutes a beautiful gift for Indonesia's 77th Independence Day in August 2022," the Indonesian Consul General said.He also conveyed the commitment of the Indonesian Consulate General in San Francisco to always encourage, connect with licensing management parties, major importers of Indonesian products on the North West Coast of the U.S., so that the supply chain of Indonesian goods and food products can run smoothly and develop.
