Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – President Prabowo and King Charles III of England attended the Peusangan Elephant Conservation Philanthropy event held at Lancaster House, London, on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

President Prabowo and King Charles III interacted directly with participants on the occasion, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat reported on its website on Wednesday.

The two leaders received a brief explanation of the Peusangan Elephant Conservation Philanthropy meeting from Marc Palahi, CEO of the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance.

The presence of President Prabowo and King Charles III at the event showed that the two leaders strongly symbolized their political and moral support for Peusangan Elephant conservation efforts and the strengthening of international partnerships in the field of biodiversity conservation.

President Prabowo's presence at the forum also reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to strengthening international cooperation in wildlife conservation and environmental conservation.

The goal of the conservation program is to create safe wildlife corridors, mitigate human-elephant conflict, and protect the remaining critical habitat for Sumatran elephants.

This approach is also aimed at supporting forest rehabilitation and conservation efforts that actively involve local communities.

President Prabowo's participation in the forum aligns with the Indonesian Government's commitment to fostering global collaboration in wildlife protection, while strengthening environmental diplomacy as an integral part of the country's sustainable development agenda globally.

Upon arrival, the president was greeted by the Indonesian President's Special Envoy for Energy and the Environment, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, and the UK Minister for Equalities, Seema Malhotra.

The Peusangan Elephant Conservation Center is located in Indonesia’s Central Aceh district, Aceh province. Elephants were used to help lift logs of trees that had fallen due to the recent flash floods in Sumatra. The natural disaster resulted in the deaths of more than 1,000 people.

Aceh was one of three provinces in Sumatra (including North Sumatra and West Sumatra) affected by flash floods and landslides that occurred in late November 2025.
