Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia has highlighted the vision of the G20 presidency by focusing on post-pandemic global recovery.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi made the statement at a meeting with her Italian and Canadian counterparts in Rome, Italy, on Sunday (June 27), according to a written press statement from the minister on Monday regarding the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in Bari, Italy.

In the bilateral meetings, Retno said that the expected recovery is the one that is strong, inclusive and beneficial, not only for the G20 countries but also for all countries in the world.

"We will build a consensus to become a bridge builder, and ensure that the interests of developing countries are reflected in the G20 decisions," she said, adding that the Indonesian Presidency will push for a number of priority issues, including productivity, resilience, sustainability, enabling environment or partnership, and global leadership.

"Indonesia will encourage the creation of a conducive environment for sustainable, inclusive and green development, through strengthening the digital economy, as well as empowering women and youth," said Minister Retno.

At the meeting, the Indonesian minister conveyed Indonesia's readiness to host the G20 in 2022.

"In this regard, Indonesia needs to ensure the support of the G20 member countries for the Indonesian Presidency at the G20," said Retno, adding that all representatives of the countries she met expressed strong support for the success of the Indonesian Presidency in the G20.

Together with Saudi Arabia and Italy, Indonesia is currently among of the G20 troika.

The G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting was held on June 29, 2021, in Matera, about 424 kilometers south of Italy’s capital city of Rome.
