Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has set a target of an electrification ratio of 100 percent by 2022.

"We have designed in the draft on the electricity supply business plan for the 2021-2030 period, stating that in 2022 the electrification ratio and electrified villages ratio will reach 100 percent," said the Ministry’s Director General of Electricity, Rida Mulyana, in an online press conference on Friday (June 4).

Until March 2021, Indonesia’s electrification ratio has reached 99.28 percent and electrified villages ratio has been 99.59 percent. This means that there are 0.72 percent of households and 0.41 percent of villages throughout the country that have yet to enjoy electricity.

Rida said that the efforts to electrify all of Indonesia’s areas are currently climbing down as those who have not yet enjoyed electricity live in remote and isolated areas, which are not easily and quickly accessed.

From the end of 2020 to May 2021, the increase in Indonesia’s electrification ratio was only 0.08 percent.
