Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia will underscore a number of national issues, especially global industrial cooperation for the recovery of the pandemic impacts and the achievement of sustainable development goals (SDGs) at the Industrial Development Board (IDB) meeting of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Indonesia was elected by acclamation as president of the IDB meeting which will take place on ​November 23-25, 2020.

IDB is one of the UNIDO policy-making bodies with tasks to formulate and review the progress of the UN Agency's work programs and budgets, as well as make recommendations to the UNIDO General Conference on policies and appointment of the director general.

IDB has 53 members, and Indonesia is a member until 2023.

Indonesia is expected to continue to increase cooperation with UNIDO and other related parties to get more benefits.

One program that is considered successful in Indonesia is the SMART-Fish program which has boosted investment in the fishery sectors to 11.7 million U.S. dollars.

UNIDO helps member countries achieve inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

The collaboration between Indonesia and UNIDO is carried out under the 2016-2020 Indonesia UNIDO Country Partnership (IUCP) framework.

Currently, Indonesia is exploring the IUCP for the 2021-2025 period with a focus on accelerating Industry 4.0.

The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia in Vienna, Ambassador Darmansjah Djumala, will chair the 48th session of UNIDO.
