
Indonesian humanitarian aid for floods victims arrives in Pakistan

The Indonesian humanitarian aid for Pakistani floods victims is in the form of cash funds of approximately one million U.S. dollars as well as basic needs such as clothing, blankets, and medical medicines.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia's humanitarian aid for victims of floods and landslides in Pakistan arrived at Ali Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Tuesday (Sept. 27).The assistance was symbolically handed over by the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhajir Effendi, to the Federal Minister for Investment of the Pakistani government, Chaudry Salik Hussain, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat said in a statement here on Wednesday.“We have brought the assistance from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the people of Indonesia. Hopefully this assistance can help ease the burden of suffering for the victims of floods and landslides," the Indonesian coordinating minister said when handing over the aid.Muhadjir also conveyed greetings from Indonesian President Joko Widodo (locally known as Jokowi) to Jokowi’s Pakistani counterpart and all the people of Pakistan."President Joko Widodo also expressed his deep concern over the disaster that befell the Pakistani people," the Indonesian senior minister said.The aid delivery was based on the spirit of brotherhood, humanity and mutual cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan, he said, adding that the two countries have had close bilateral relations for 72 years.“This disastrous situation has certainly made Pakistan difficult. As brothers, we also feel called and we have come to provide assistance and encouragement so that Pakistan would rise up soon," he said.In addition to handing over the assistance, Muhajir who was accompanied by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency, Suharyanto, and the Chair of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Ashabul Kahfi, also visited the evacuation post for flood and landslide victims in Malir district, about 32 kilometers from Ali Jinnah International Airport.The aid package provided by the Indonesian government for disaster victims in Pakistan is in the form of cash funds of approximately one million U.S. dollars as well as basic needs such as clothing, blankets, and medical medicines.The delivery of aid in the form of basic materials and vital needs for victims of floods and landslides in Pakistan this time is the first of two humanitarian flights initiated by the Indonesia government, through the country’s National Disaster Management AgencyBesides, the Indonesian government has also prepared aircraft to facilitate the delivery of the humanitarian aid from various components of the country’s society.Reporting by Indonesia WindowBagikan
