Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo signed the first day cover of the COVID-19 vaccination series stamp at the State Palace, Jakarta on Friday.

Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate said that the launch of the serial stamp shows Indonesia as a country that is fast and ready in fighting the new coronavirus pandemic through vaccination for the public to achieve herd immunity.

"In the future, the issuance of stamps will be done digitally using the barcode method for tracking and tracing, and equipped with an augmented reality feature on the stamps to make them more detailed and interesting," the minister said.

So far, 28 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been available in Indonesia, and all of them were sent by the Chinese pharmaceutical company, Sinovac Ltd. in four stages.

In the first phase, 1.2 million doses of ready-to-use COVID-19 vaccine arrived on December 6, 2020, followed by 1.8 million doses on December 31, 2020.

Meanwhile, the third and fourth stages of mass deliveries consist of 15 million doses on January 12, 2021, and 10 million doses on February 2, 2021.

Upon arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, Banten, all bulks of vaccine were taken to Indonesian vaccine manufacturer Biofarma in Bandung, West Java, to be further processed into ready-to-use vaccines.
