Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian government has decided to extend the Implementation of the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) outside Java and Bali from May 10 to 24, 2022, a senior minister said.

"The PPKM outside Java and Bali will be extended for the next two weeks," said Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto at an online press conference on Monday.

According to Hartarto, PPKM level 1 is implemented in 88 districts/cities, level 2 in 276 districts/cities, and level 3 in 22 districts /cities.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the government would continue to implement PPKM in Java and Bali until a time to be determined later.

Pandjaitan emphasized that the government will continue to periodically monitor the development of Covid-19 cases in the country, and the results of the monitoring will be the basis for the government in determining future policies.

He also said that the improving condition of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the government continue to simplify and loosen PPKM rules, but would stick to and follow the health protocol standards set by the government.

The improvement in the current condition of the COVID-19 pandemic would not reduce the government's efforts to continue to accelerate the second doses of COVID-19 vaccination and booster doses for all regions in Java and Bali which are still lagging behind in the realization of vaccine injections, he said.

The government also continues to encourage the use of PeduliLindungi, an official COVID-19 contact tracing app used for digital contact tracing in Indonesia, and masks in public places to reduce possible negative impacts of COVID-19 and provide immunity for the community, he added.
