
Economy to grow 7 pct, Indonesian president carries partnership vision at SPIEF

Indonesia's economic prospect was conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in Russia on Friday, June 20, 2025.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – President Prabowo Subianto explained Indonesia's economic prospect and achievements in his speech at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Center in Russia on Friday, June 20, 2025.In front of global leaders and world economic players, President Prabowo expressed optimism about Indonesia's economic prospects which are on the right track and promising, the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat said in a written statement quoted by Indonesia Window on Sunday."My experts say that in the first semester, our economic growth is more than five percent. It could even approach seven percent by the end of this year or even more," the president noted.The achievement reflects the success of the economic policy direction taken by the government, the head of state said, adding that with this basis, major targets in the near future are expected to be achieved.“This shows that we have chosen the right path and we are achieving our goals,” he added.President Prabowo stated that Indonesia is not only targeting self-sufficiency, but will also become a net food exporter for major commodities such as rice and corn in the next few years.In his speech, the president also introduced the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara or Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund), which was formed as a long-term welfare legacy for future generations.“We have formed a state wealth fund that we call Danantara, which is Indonesia’s future energy. This fund is to protect the wealth of our children and grandchildren. It currently has assets worth 1,000 billion US dollars under Danantara’s management,” President Prabowo pointed out.On that occasion, he said that Indonesia is open to business with anyone, noting that good relations with Russian corporations have been established for a long time."We are open for business.
