Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Data from Indonesia’s Central Agency of Statistics (locally knowns as BPS) show that the country's export value in December 2020 reached 16.54 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 8.39 percent compared to that in November 2020.

Cumulatively, Indonesia's exports in the January-December 2020 period were valued at 163.31 billion U.S. dollars.

According to the BPS data, non-oil and non-gas exports in December 2020 amounted to 15.52 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 7.06 percent compared to that in November 2020. The largest increase occurred in the export of animal/vegetable fats and oils, reaching 264.2 million U.S. dollars, or 11.23 percent of the total value.

Meanwhile, non-oil and non-gas exports from the processing industry and agricultural products in the January-December 2020 period also rose by 2.95 percent and 13.98 percent respectively compared to those in the same period of 2019.

The data also show that the largest non-oil and non-gas export destination in December 2020 was China, contributing 3.32 billion U.S. dollars, followed by the United States 1.87 billion U.S. dollars, and Japan 1.25 billion U.S. dollars. These three export destinations represented 41.50 percent of total exports.

Meanwhile, Indonesia’s exports to 27 European Union countries were valued at 1.27 billion U.S. dollars.

According to the province of origin, Indonesia's largest exports in the January-December 2020 period came from West Java with a value of 26.59 billion U.S. dollars (16.28 percent), followed by East Java 20.31 billion U.S. dollars (12.44 percent), and Riau 13.77 billion U.S. dollars (8.43 percent).
