Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Indonesian Central Agency of Statistics has recorded that the national export value in July 2021 reached 17.70 billion U.S. dollars, down 4.53 percent compared to the previous month (month-on-month), but increased by 29.32 percent compared the same period in 2020.

"Compared to July 2020, our exports (in July 2021) increased significantly by 29.32 percent," the agency’s Head Margo Yuwono told a virtual press conference here, Wednesday (Aug. 18).

Margo pointed out that the decline in exports in July 2021 compared to June 2021 was due to a 19.55 percent decline in oil and gas exports and a 3.46 percent decline in non-oil and non-gas exports.

The decline of exports in July 2021 compared to the previous month occurred due to very high exports in June 2021.

"This is more because of the seasonal pattern, because in May there was Eid al-Fitr holiday," said Margo, adding that Indonesia's export performance throughout 2021 was however fairly good, both in terms of total exports and based on non-oil and non-gas exports.

In fact, the agency’s chart shows that the national export performance in January-July 2021 was higher than that in the same period of 2020 and 2019.
