Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Islamic Republic of Iran held a celebration of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution in Jakarta, Tuesday (Feb. 4), and commemorate bilateral relations with Indonesia that have been established for 75 years."Along with the new governments of both countries, Iran and Indonesia celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, which will chart a new path of collaboration. The fields of health, science and technology remain top priorities on the bilateral agenda," Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Boroujerdi said in his remarks at the 46th Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution and the 75th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations with Indonesia.Ambassador Boroujerdi praised his country's diplomatic relations with Indonesia, especially in the situation in which Iran is facing unfair sanctions from the United States and Western countries."The diplomatic relations between Iran and Indonesia have motivated the two countries to diversify their relations, taking advantage of Iran's progress in various fields, such as medicine, nanotechnology, biotechnology, nuclear science, aerospace, and others," he said.During the visit of the late President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi to Indonesia on May 23-24, 2023, amid strict unilateral sanctions from the United States, 11 Memorandums of Understanding were signed by the two governments, covering the fields of politics, economy, health, science and technology, and culture.According to the Iranian Ambassador, the direct flight route between Iran and Indonesia, which was opened this year to commemorate the 75th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, “will promote more significant people-to-people exchanges and deepen mutual understanding between our countries.”Ambassador Boroujerdi also highlighted the situation in the region, saying that Iran and Indonesia are two important powers in West and Southeast Asia, and have consistently demonstrated the ability to mediate conflicts and maintain regional order through constructive diplomacy.“Globally, the shared vision of both countries aims to foster a just and balanced world order, actively engaging in South-South cooperation, thus enabling them to play a constructive role in empowering the Global South,” the Iranian Ambassador explained. In addition, Indonesia’s full membership in BRICS presents a golden opportunity to further enhance bilateral relations, which promises significant benefits for all BRICS members and the Global South in general, he added.
