The Jakarta-Bandung high-speed train adopts high technology, namely Grade of Automation (GOA) Level 1, and has a slim design to support the train’s acceleration system, reaching a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The series of Electric Multiple Units (EMU) for the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) project began to be delivered from China to Indonesia, on Friday (Aug. 5).

KCJB is expected to undergo a dynamic test in November 2022, coinciding with Indonesia’s G20 Presidency event.

"This project is a form of Indonesia-China friendship which is always discussed in meetings of the two countries. For that, let's support the KCJB project so that it can run well and sustainably," Indonesian Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said at the EMU Manufacturing Completion event for the Jakarta-Bandung Fast Train project which was held online on Friday (Aug. 5).

The minister explained that KCJB adopts high technology, namely Grade of Automation (GOA) Level 1, and has a slim design to support the train’s acceleration system, reaching a maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour.

Later, KCJB will serve 68 trips every day and stop at five stations.

“The travel time from Jakarta to Bandung only takes 36-45 minutes. Previously, (the route) took approximately 2.5 hours,” Budi Karya noted.

KCJB is an environmentally friendly mass transportation, with a good level of safety and security as well as time efficiency, so it is expected to further increase public interest in using public transportation rather than private vehicles.

"For this reason, I urge the speed of construction time and system integration to be accelerated, so that the benefits that have been waiting for the users can immediately be taken," the minister said.

On the same occasion, President Director of the Indonesia-China Fast Train (KCIC) Dwiyana Slamet Riyadi said that the first shipment of EMU and Comprehensive Inspection Train (CIT) for KCJB was the first time China had sent overseas.

A total of 11 train series produced by CRRC Sifang, Qingdao, Shandong Province, China were completed in early April this year.

The EMU and CIT which were sent to Indonesia today have completed static tests and dynamic tests at their production sites.

"Until now, the progress of the KCIC project has reached 85 percent, and there are still some tunnel 2 works, pre loading, track laying and station completion," Dwiyana said.
