Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – King Salman on Tuesday condemned the attacks on Aramco's oil company facilities and asserted that the kingdom was able to handle the "cowardly attacks", Arabnews reported.

"These attacks are not aimed at vital installations of Saudi Arabia, but threaten the global economy," the Saudi king said.

King Salman stressed that Saudi Arabia will continue to defend its territory and facilities from those who attack the kingdom.

He called on the international community to take tougher measures to stop these attacks.

Meanwhile, the Saudi Council of Ministers said that these attacks threaten international peace and security.

Attacks

Tensions in the Middle East increased after drone strikes on two major oil facilities in Saudi Arabia, according to Al Jazeera's report.

The attacks that occurred before dawn on Saturday (Sep 14) knocked out more than half of crude oil production from the world's major exporters or as much as five percent of global oil supplies, and cut output by 5.7 million barrels per day.

Yemen's Houthi rebels, who have been locked in a war with a Saudi-UAE-led coalition since 2015, claimed responsibility for the attacks, warning Saudi Arabia that their targets "will keep expanding".
