Jakarta (Indonesia Window) - The World Muslim League (MWL) and the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) are working together to build the largest-ever museum dedicated to Islamic history and civilization.

The museum, which will be set up in Jakarta, is expected to attract four million visitors a year, the Saudi Arabian News Agency (SPA) reported as quoted by Indonesia Window here on Thursday.

MWL Secretary General Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, and Indonesian Minister of Administrative Reforms congruently Deputy Chairman of DMI, Syafruddin, signed an agreement in Jeddah to mark the launch of the project.

This museum will be a branch of its headquarters located in Madinah, which was inaugurated in the month of Ramadan 1440 Hijr / 2019 under sponsorship of Madinah Governor Prince Faisal bin Salman.

The museum in Madinah receives international recognition with MWL having requests from 24 countries, including Indonesia, to establish branches.

Using the latest technology, the museum in Indonesia will feature displays highlighting the biography of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Islamic civilization.

As the first branch of the global initiative, the Jakarta complex will also offer a range of events including discussions, training seminars, conferences and forums.

The museum will be built on an area of ​​more than 100,000 square meters in Jakarta with conference rooms and restaurants that sell halal (permissible in Islamic law) food.

The construction of the museum will begin in the next few months.
