Leading sectors of Indonesia and Poland include sectors of trade, investment, tourism, energy, creative industries, strategic industries, education and vocation, transportation, as well as health.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia and Poland have agreed to continue to promote efforts to increase bilateral cooperation by developing collaboration in leading sectors of the two countries.

The matter was discussed at the 5th meeting of the Indonesia-Poland Bilateral Consultation Forum in Jakarta on May 22, 2023, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a written statement, Wednesday.

Leading sectors of the two countries include sectors of trade, investment, tourism, energy, creative industries, strategic industries, education and vocation, transportation as well as health.

At the consultation forum, the Indonesian delegation was led by Ambassador Umar Hadi, Director General for America and Europe at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile, the Polish delegation was led by Ambassador Wojciech Gerwel, Undersecretary of State for Economic Cooperation, the United Nations, Asia and the Americas at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Umar Hadi said that the significant increase in the bilateral trade volume in the midst of a depressing global economic situation shows that the two countries has strong potentials and capitals in the field of economy.

"The significant increase also shows that the two countries still have a lot of areas in developing the bilateral cooperation," he added.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the two parties also held a ceremony on the handover of charger station donated by Polish company EkoEnergetyka to the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Gerwel said that the handover was a symbol of the closer bilateral cooperation in the field of electromobility.

In addition to the bilateral cooperation, the two countries also discussed the regional situation including the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) , Indo-Pacific, and Europe.

Poland expressed its appreciation for Indonesia's leadership in the G20 and supported the latter’s chairmanship in the ASEAN. The two countries likewise agreed on the importance of building a peaceful, stable and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

Currently, Poland is Indonesia’s largest trading partner in the Central European region, with a bilateral trade value in 2022 reaching 1.36 million U.S. dollars. This figure has increased by 60.74 percent from that in 2021.
