MEA India and MoFA Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Policy Dialogue between the governments and interaction between think tanks.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (MoFA Indonesia) and the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India (MEA India) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Policy Dialogue between the governments and interaction between think tanks.

The signing took place following the 3rd Policy Planning Dialogue (PPD) between the Foreign Policy Strategy Agency of MoFA Indonesia and the Policy Planning and Research (PP&R) of MEA India in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

The delegations were led by the Head of the Foreign Policy Strategy Agency, MoFA Indonesia, and the Joint Secretary of PP&R, MEA India, the MoFA Indonesia said in a press release as quoted by Indonesia Window on Thursday.

This MoU aims to strengthen cooperation through 1.5/2.0 Track Dialogues, which facilitate exchanges of foreign policy perspectives between government and non-government sectors, including think tanks from both countries.

Through this initiative, Indonesia and India seek to deepen collaboration on various strategic and global issues as well as further strengthen their diplomatic ties.

During the 3rd PPD, the Head of the Foreign Policy Strategy Agency emphasized President Prabowo Subianto's Indonesian foreign policy priorities based on the ‘independent and active’ principle with a pragmatic and firm approach, and encouraged good neighbor policies to strengthen relations with neighboring countries.

The Joint Secretary for Policy Planning and Research added that this good neighbor policy is important in maintaining regional and domestic stability, and views the role of non-state actors proves to be a productive element as part of overcoming cross-border terrorism.

The dialogue also covered global and regional issues of mutual concern, including the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine, and the increase of unilateral sanctions trend.

Both countries agreed to continue strengthening the engagement between their foreign policy planning institutions and think tanks to enhance future cooperation.

With the signing of this MoU, Indonesia and India further solidify their diplomatic relationship and are committed to facing global challenges together through foreign policies.
