Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia’s Minister of Religion Lukman Saifuddin said that Indonesia is committed to strengthening bilateral relations with Saudi Arabia.

"Our leaders are equally eager to strengthen bilateral cooperation," Minister Lukman said when addressing the celebration of Saudi Arabia's National Day in Jakarta, Monday night (9/23).

He added that the relationship between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia is unique and cannot be compared with those of other countries, especially in Islamic matters.

"The two holy mosques under the Guardian of King Salman are visited by worshipers from all over the world. We really appreciate what has been done by King Salman who always provides the best facilities for pilgrims, especially for those from Indonesia," said the minister.

In the fields of cooperation on economy, businesses and investments, according to the minister, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia also witness and enjoy the increasing relations.

"The reciprocal visits between the two leaders of the countries, and President Joko Widodo's meeting with the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia show the strong desire of the two countries to strengthen cooperation and continue at a higher level," said Minister Lukman.

For the Middle East, Saudi Arabia is the largest economic and investment cooperation partner, and is the biggest contributor of tourist visits.

"We expect more cooperation with the inclusion of direct investment from Saudi Arabia in Indonesia," the minister said.
