Jakarta (Indonesia Window) - Chairman of New South Wales (NSW)’s Parliament, Jonathan O'Dea, said the closely intertwined relations between Australia and Indonesia will continue to develop in the future.

Jonathan O'Dea made the remarks as a guest of honor at a diplomatic reception commemorating the 74th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia held on Tuesday (Oct 1) by the Indonesian Consulate General in Sydney.

"Indonesia and Australia have gone through a long friendship despite facing many challenges in the course of 70 years of bilateral relations," Jonathan O'Dea said in a statement received here on Thursday.

Indonesian Consul General in Sydney Heru Hartanto Subolo in his remarks at the event underscored the importance of making the close relations between Indonesia and Australia into concrete actions for mutual benefit between the two nations.

"Indonesia and Australia are true friends to each other. It all depends on us to ensure that this friendship is a fortune for us," said the consul general.

According to him, Indonesia and Australia have similarities as multi-cultural nations.

"These similarities make us friends, partners, and relatives with each other. Thus, let us work together to make our true friendship beneficial for our two peoples,”  Subolo said.
