Bogor, W Java (Indonesia Window) — Taman Safari Indonesia (Indonesia Safari Park/TSI) II in Prigen Sub District, Pasuruan District, East Java Province has again been successful in its endangered species conservation program with the birth of four Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) cubs on March 23, 2026.
The four tiger cubs were born to parents Praja and Dini, comprising three males and one female (3.1).
The birth was officially recorded in the Birth Report Number: BA.534/K.2/SKWVI/KSA.03.02/B/5/2026.
This achievement is a special moment because it marks the second birth for mother Dini, following the previous births of two Sumatran tiger cubs named Isyana and Aura.
This achievement indicates the success of the sustainable wildlife management and conservation breeding program at TSI Prigen.
The Sumatran tiger is the last surviving tiger subspecies in Indonesia and is currently listed as Critically Endangered by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List.
Their wild population continues to face various threats such as habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and illegal hunting.
Therefore, every Sumatran tiger birth represents new hope in the conservation efforts of this species.
The birth of these four tiger cubs is not only a significant achievement in the ex-situ conservation program, but also a reminder of the importance of maintaining the sustainability of Indonesia's forest ecosystems as the natural habitat of the Sumatran tiger.
Animal conservation cannot be carried out by conservation institutions alone; it requires the support of all parties, including the community, government, and the educational sector.
Through this opportunity, Taman Safari Indonesia II Prigen encourages the public to increase their concern for the preservation of Indonesia's wildlife and biodiversity.
Protecting the Sumatran tiger means helping to maintain the balance of the forest ecosystem, which is a source of life for many living creatures.
Currently, the mother and all the cubs are in good health and are being intensively monitored by a team of veterinarians and professional animal keepers to ensure optimal growth.
