Indonesia’s 2025 Trade Expo reaches 22.8 bln USD in transactions, a global rise of local products

The total value of transactions during the five-day exhibition of Trade Expo Indonesia reached 22.8 billion U.S. dollars.
Tangerang, Banten (Indonesia Window) — Indonesia’s largest export exhibition, the 40th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), officially concluded on Sunday (Oct. 19) with impressive results.Indonesian Minister of Trade Budi Santoso closed the event, held at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City in Tangerang district, Banten province, announcing that the total value of transactions during the five-day exhibition reached 22.8 billion U.S. dollars.The figure far exceeded the initial target of 16.5 billion U.S. dollars, marking a significant achievement for Indonesia’s export performance.“As of 1:00 p.m. today, the total transaction value has reached 22.8 billion U.S. dollars and is expected to surpass 23 billion U.S. dollars. This proves that Indonesian products are not only competitive but have also become global favorites,” the Minister of Trade noted in his closing remarks.Throughout the five-day exhibition, TEI 2025 recorded 34,550 visitors from 131 countries, exceeding the target of 30,000 visitors. Of that number, 8,045 were international buyers representing 130 countries. Malaysia topped the list with 769 buyers, followed by China, India, Nigeria, and Egypt.The number of exhibitors also exceeded expectations, reaching 1,619 companies, higher than the target of 1,500. Participants represented various sectors, including food and beverages, agricultural products, fashion and lifestyle, as well as manufacturing and services.Of the total transaction value, trade in goods accounted for 17.9 billion U.S. dollars, services for 443.7 million U.S. dollars, and investment for 4.37 billion U.S. dollars.India recorded the highest transaction value at 4.3 billion U.S. dollars, followed by the Netherlands (3.9 billion U.S. dollars), Vietnam (3.3 billion U.S. dollars), the Philippines (3.1 billion U.S. dollars), and China (2.4 billion U.S. dollars).The most sought-after products included mining commodities, precious metals, palm oil and its derivatives, charcoal and briquettes, as well as industrial spare parts.The micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sector also made a significant contribution, recording transactions worth 474.7 million U.S. dollars. This achievement highlights how creativity and quality from Indonesia’s local businesses continue to break into the global market.In conjunction with the main event, Pangan Nusa Expo 2025 (food exhibition) also posted encouraging results, with potential culinary expansion partnerships abroad valued at 7.3 million U.S. dollars.A total of 12 culinary MSMEs gained broader market access, including partnerships with modern retail networks and national public transportation services such as PT KAI (Indonesian Railways Company).Minister Budi expressed his appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of TEI 2025, including Indonesia’s trade representatives abroad — Trade Attachés, Indonesia Trade Promotion Centers (ITPC), Indonesian Trade and Economic Offices (KDEI), as well as Indonesian ambassadors in partner countries.“The success of the 40th TEI is the result of strong collaboration between the government, the business actor, banking institutions, state-owned enterprises, and other strategic partners. Let us continue this spirit to advance non-oil and gas exports that are increasingly competitive and of high quality,” he said.At the closing ceremony, the minister also announced that the 41st Trade Expo Indonesia will be held from October 14 to 18, 2026. He encouraged business players to continue innovating, improving product quality, harnessing digital technology, and maintaining sustainable business practices.“Keep innovating, enhance product quality, and embrace digital technology.
