Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The United Arab Emirates’ Ambassador to Indonesia and ASEAN Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri has praised the bilateral relationship between his country and Indonesia, which in recent years has reached the level of strategic partnership in various fields, including politics, economy and trade.

The strengthening of bilateral relations is due to the special relationship between leaders of the two country, Ambassador Al Dhaheri stated at the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the UAE’s National Day here on Thursday (Dec. 2).

Indonesian President Joko Widodo's visit to the UAE on November 2-4, 2021, according to the ambassador, was the best sign of the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The visit resulted in the signing of 19 bilateral agreements and investment agreements worth around 32.7 billion U.S. dollars in various fields that would help strengthen the Indonesian economy and support the government's efforts to revive the national economy after the COVID-19 pandemic.

In his speech, the ambassador reviewed the development achievements of the UAE since the formation of the Seven Emirates.

He stressed that the UAE, since its founding on December 2, 1971, has adhered to the principles of promoting security, peace and sustainable development in the region and worldwide.

This principle is part of a fundamental dimension of the UAE's foreign policy, he stressed.

Al Dhaheri said, the election of the UAE to become a member of the U.N. Security Council for the 2022-2023 period is in line with this Middle Eastern country's belief in the importance of strengthening international relations in responding to international challenges.

He also underscored that the election of the UAE to the membership of the Human Rights Council for the 2022-2024 period is the culmination of the policies pursued by the UAE in consolidating rights and freedoms.

Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and a number of other officials attended the event.
