Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – As many as 98 percent of Indonesia's total products of the marine and fisheries sector have been received in 171 export destination countries, according to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.

"Based on the health certificates, 98 percent of the total fishery products sent to exporting countries are well received," head of the ministry’s fish quarantine and quality control of fishery products security, Rina, said at a press conference here on Thursday (Dec. 16).

She pointed out that until November 30, the fish and fishery product exports received by exporting countries reached 99.36 percent, and by the end of December, it is expected that there would be no additional cases of fishery products rejection from Indonesia.

Data from the ministry also showed that the number of health certificates on exported products has decreased from 152,240 in 2020 to 146,338 certificates in 2021. Likewise, the amount of certified fishery products has decreased from 1.33 million tons in 2020 to 1.21 million tons in 2021.

The ministry stated that the export value of various commodities had increased.

The export value of vaname shrimp (white leg shrimp) rose from 1.66 billion U.S. dollars in 2020 to 1.7 billion U.S. dollars in 2021, and the export value of tuna increased from 419.82 million dollars in 2020 to 432.86 million dollars in 2021.

"This indicates that the value export of Indonesian fishery products is getting higher," Rina said, adding that imports of several fishery products have also decreased, with feed raw materials and mackerel having increased.
