Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia received 688,800 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the French Government on Wednesday (Oct. 13) through a dose-sharing mechanism under the Covax Facility, and it is the 88th batch of the vaccine arrivals in the country in total.

"This afternoon, 688,800 doses of the AstraZeneca dose-sharing vaccine have arrived through the Covax Facility from the French Government," Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said in a press release received here, Wednesday.

With the arrival of the vaccine, the number of vaccine aid from France that has been received by Indonesia was 3,852,340 doses of AstraZeneca. This amount exceeds the initial commitment of 3,000,000 doses which was pledged by French President Emmanuel Macron to his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo on August 4, 2021.

"Deep appreciation for the assistance and support from France from us. Solidarity and strong cooperation are our main capital together to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic," said the Indonesian Foreign Minister.

With the arrival of the vaccine from France, the number of vaccines that have arrived in the archipelagic country has reached 281,216,720 doses, both in the form of ready-to-use vaccines and in bulks.
