Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia has sent 2,000 oxygen tubes with a capacity of six cubic meters (equivalent to 40 liters) to India to help the country face the soaring number of COVID-19 cases.

Earlier, on May 10, 2021, Indonesia sent 1,400 tubes, bringing the total number of oxygen tubes delivered to India to 3,400.

"Today, Indonesia sends 2,000 oxygen tubes of the 3,400 tubes as planned. God willing, our brothers and sisters in India would benefit from the assistance from their brothers and sisters in Indonesia,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said here on Friday.

Airlangga added that the number of the COVID-19 cases in India had actually decreased in December 2020, and became Indonesia’s model on the strategy for reducing the cases.

However, the number of the COVID-19 cases in India have spiked again in early 2021.

Meanwhile, Indonesian Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita appreciated the country’s industry players who participated in sending the oxygen tubes to India.

"The Indonesian government would like to thank all parties for their initiative and participation, especially the industrial sector, which has helped deliver the aid," Agus said.

He hoped that the assistance from Indonesia could help relieve India from the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The delivery of the second phase of oxygen tubes for COVID-19 victims in India today shows that Indonesia is committed to helping India in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.
