Jakarta (Indonesia Window) - The government has appointed Alexander Feldman (Jr.) Indonesia's honorary consul in Kharkiv, Ukraine, who will help strengthen the two countries’ relations in Eastern Europe.

Chairperson of the Great Indonesia Creative House Kris Budiharjo has delivered a Letter of Credentials on the Appointment of Alexander Feldman (Jr.) to  Indonesian Ambassador to Ukraine Prof. Dr. Yuddy Chrisnandi, according to a statement received here, Saturday.

Budiharjo said that the House delegation, the Indonesian Embassy in Kiev and the Indonesian Honorary Consul in Kharkiv have carried out a number of activities in the City of Kharkiv, including meetings between Indonesian and Ukrainian businesspeople, trade shows and exhibition of woven fabric products by designer Anna Mariana, and a visit to the Indonesia Park at the  National Botanical Garden of MM Gryshko in Kiev.

Ambassador Yuddy expressed hope that the presence of the Indonesian Honorary Consul in Kharkiv will improve bilateral relations between Indonesia and Ukraine in the fields of economy, trade and culture in order to prosper the people of the two countries.

Meanwhile, Alexander Feldman (Jr.) expressed his pride of being an honorary consul of Indonesia as a large country with a population of about 270 million and a member of the G20.

He expressed his readiness to promote Indonesia's interest in the Kharkiv region and enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, tourism and education as well as friendly ties between the two peoples.

The honorary consul also offered cooperation to Indonesian businesses to market their products by utilizing the "Barabashovo Market" which is one of the largest trading markets in the world covering 75 hectares in Kharkiv.

At a meeting between businesspersons of the two countries, Indonesian entrepreneurs discussed the possibility of exporting nine staples through their potential distributor partners in Kharkiv before being distributed to retailers in the local area.

At the end of the meeting, Indonesian and Ukrainian businesspeople agreed to hold the next business meeting in Kharkiv in the first half of next year.
