Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesia's export value to China during the January - September period 2021 jumped compared to the same period in the previous year, and was the highest in 20 years of trade cooperation between the two countries.

Data from the Chinese Customs indicate that the total value of Indonesia's trade with China during the first seven months of 2021 reached 85.3 billion U.S. dollars, with a growth rate of 52.8 percent, compared to that in the same period of 2020.

"Indonesia is currently able to maintain its position in the 4th rank as the largest exporting country to China among other ASEAN member countries," said Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun in a written statement received here on Monday (Nov. 22).

In addition, the ambassador added, among all exporting countries to China, Indonesia's position rose one rank compared to 2020.

“Earlier, we were in 14th position. We are currently in 13th place. Hopefully with hard work, in the end of 2021, the Chinese Customs data will show Indonesia’s total value being 100 billion dollars with a surplus for Indonesia," Ambassador Djauhari said.

The value of Indonesia's imports from China during January-September 2020 reached 42.5 billion dollars or grew positively by 46.5 percent compared to last year.

Indonesia's leading and potential products in that period experienced an increase in the export value of more than 60 percent in the double-digit HS (Harmonized System) code. The products including mineral fuels and their refined products (HS 27) increased by 86.7 percent; iron and steel (HS 72) increased by 86.2 percent; animal or vegetable fats and oils (HS 15) increased by 118.9 percent; various chemical products (HS 38) increased by 105.1 percent; coffee, tea, mate and spices (HS 09) increased 96.6 percent.
