
Indonesia’s Muslim fashion products have opportunity in Thailand

Thailand held the Melayu Day Festival 2025 in Yala City (14-16/2) in which Indonesian MSMEs took part in the event , among others promoting fragrant Kalimantan sarongs, ready-to-wear clothing (Muslim) and aromatherapy from Indonesia’s Bali province.
Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – On the sidelines of the Melayu Day Festival 2025 in Yala City, Thailand (14-16/2), Indonesian MSMEs and importers/distributors from southern Thailand have successfully agreed on six Letters of Intent (LoI) with a potential trade transaction of 6.2 million baht or 2.7 billion rupiahs.The products in demand are fragrant Kalimantan sarongs, ready-to-wear clothing (Muslim) and aromatherapy from Indonesia’s Bali province.The exhibition also recorded trade transactions of 500 thousand baht or an increase of around 20 percent from last year's trade transactions of MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) products at the same event.1 bath = about 472,1899 rupiahs.This year is the 10th year that Indonesia has participated in the Melayu Day Festival in Yala City, Thailand.In addition to presenting art and cultural performances, the Melayu Day Festival presents MSME products from three countries, namely Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia.There are around 34 MSMEs from various provinces in Indonesia with superior products including coffee, snacks, Muslim clothing, batik cloth, and accessories.This year the Indonesian Pavilion introduced eco-print fabric and cloth/cloth products from Kalimantan (one of Indonesia’s five main Islands).Muslim clothing, batik, and coffee are still among the products sought after by visitors. Indonesia’s MSMEs participants in the event received support from the Ministry of MSMEs and the Association of Independent Micro, Medium, and Small Entrepreneurs of Indonesia (APMIKIMMDO) Jakarta.Melayu Day was initiated by the Mayor of Yala with the aim of strengthening friendship and mutual understanding of the Malay community in three countries.In southern Thailand there are around three million Malays in the provinces of Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, and Satun.Thailand is one of the member countries of ASEAN, which consists of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor Leste.Reporting by Indonesia WindowBagikan
