Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – Indonesian President Joko Widodo has approved a trial to enter Bali without quarantine for international travelers starting March 7, 2022, Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affair Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan told an online press conference here on Monday (March 7).

Earlier, the government planned to conduct a trial on the entry to Bali without quarantine starting March 14, 2022.

Luhut who is also the Deputy Chair of the Covid-19 Handling Committee and National Economic Recovery said that although there is no quarantine requirement, there are a number of conditions that should be complied with by international travelers, namely proofs of hotel bookings that have been paid for at least four days, or showing evidence that they domicile in Bali for Indonesian citizens.

Also, international travelers should have been fully vaccinated or received booster doses.

In addition, they should undertake entry PCR tests and wait in hotel rooms until negative test results come out. After testing negative, they are allowed to do activities while keep complying with the health protocols.

The international travelers should undergo PCR tests again on the third day at their respective hotels.

They should have health insurance that guarantees Covid-19 treatment according to the regulations, Luhut said.

Tightening of the health protocols and using the PeduliLindung application are enforced in various public places during this trial policy.

International events held in Bali during this trial period should implement strict health protocols according to the G20 standards.

Indonesia administers visas on arrival to citizens from 23 countries, namely ASEAN member countries, Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Qatar, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Italy, New Zealand, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The acceleration of booster dose vaccination in Bali is targeted to reach 30 percent within next week.

"If this trial is successful, we will apply quarantine exemptions for all international travelers on April 1, 2022 or sooner," Luhut said.
