During the August-December 2022 period, both domestic and foreign tourists who would like to visit Komodo and Padar island should pay entrance tickets at the old tariff, amounting to 75,000 rupiahs (about 5.02 dollars) for domestic tourists and 150,000 rupiahs (about 10.05 dollars) for foreign tourists.

Jakarta (Indonesia Window) – The new ticket price to enter Komodo and Padar islands tourist sites in West Manggarai district was set at 3.75 million rupiahs (some 251.17 U.S. dollars)/per visitor, effective as of Jan. 1, 2023, an official of the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) provincial administration has stated.

"The NTT provincial administration will give visitors dispensation for the next five months with the old tariff for Komodo and Padar islands. The new tariff of 3.75 million rupiahs will take effect on January 1, 2023," head of the NTT provincial tourism office Zeth Sony Libing told reporters in NTT’s capital of Kupang on Monday, as quoted from Indonesia’s Antara news agency.

Thus, he explained, during the August-December 2022 period, both domestic and foreign tourists who would like to visit Komodo and Padar islands should pay entrance tickets at the old tariff, amounting to 75,000 rupiahs (about 5.02 dollars) for domestic tourists and 150,000 rupiahs (about 10.05 dollars) for foreign tourists.

Zeth Sony pointed out that the old tariff until early next year was a suggestion from President Joko Widodo as well as inputs from a number of community and religious leaders in West Manggarai district.

He further said that over the next five months, the NTT provincial administration will prepare various facilities and infrastructures in the tourist areas of Komodo and Padar islands.

It will also intensify campaigns to the public, including churches, community leaders and other stakeholders in the district on the western tip of Flores island regarding the implementation of the new tariff.

He said that tourists who want to buy entrance tickets to Komodo and Padar islands after December 31, 2022 can register through the INISA application managed by a company, PT Flobamor.
